Quickstart Guide
This guide walks you through protecting and deploying your Source Engine maps in seconds using the BSP ii Protect web interface.
Prerequisites
- Any modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, Brave) on Windows, macOS, or Linux.
- Your compiled map in
.bspformat. - An active user account with a valid license (Standard or Studio).
1. Login & License
- Log in with 1 click using Discord, Google, or Email.
- Upon purchase, your license is automatically linked to your personal user account. No manual license keys to copy and nothing to install.
- Check your active map slots, versions, and rotation cooldowns anytime from your Dashboard.
2. Protecting a Map
- Head to the homepage dropzone or your dashboard.
- Drag and drop your
.bspfile into the upload area (or click to browse). - Choose your protection mode:
- Server Mode (Recommended for multiplayer servers): Generates two distinct files. The server file retains full game logic, while the client file is purged of sensitive entities and scrambled for players.
- Workshop Mode: Generates a single protected
.bspfile ready for direct Steam Workshop publication or single-player use.
- (Studio License): You can customize the Studio Tag embedded into the BSP internal headers.
- Click "Protect Map". Processing completes locally inside your browser in just a few seconds.
3. Deploying to your Server or Workshop
- In Server Mode:
- Server File: Download the server file and place it in the
garrysmod/maps/folder of your dedicated server. - Client File: Download the client file and upload it to your FastDL or Steam Workshop collection for players to download.

- Download the single protected file and publish it directly to the Steam Workshop using GMPU or your preferred publishing tool.
4. Updates & Map Slots
- Unlimited Updates: Fix bugs, adjust lighting, add details, and re-protect the same map as many times as you want. Updates to the same project are 100% free and unlimited for life.
- Project Rotation: Each slot protects an active map project. When you decide to permanently retire a map and assign the slot to an entirely new project, the rotation cooldown applies (180 days on Standard, 90 days on Studio).
- Expanding Capacity: You can expand your concurrent map capacity at any time with Extra Slots or upgrade your Standard license to Studio by paying only the price difference.
